JUNE 15, 2008
FIFTH SUNDAY OF PENTECOST
“Father’s Day”

ORGAN PRELUDE

                                         (Mr. Walt Gaber, Guest Organist)

*FATHER’S DAY LITANY:

L:    We give thanks today for our Fathers, who have given us life

and love, that we may show them respect and love.

P:    We remember fathers who have lost a child through death

that their faith may give them hope, and their family and

                        friends support and console them.

L:    We remember men, though without children of their own, are

like fathers who nurtured and cared for us.

P:    God, in your wisdom and love you have made all things.

Bless these men, that they may be strengthened as  Christian fathers.  Let the example of their faith and

Love shine forth.  Grant that we, their sons and

daughters, may honor them always with a spirit of

profound respect.  We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

*HYMN  710                           “Faith of Our Fathers”

OLD TESTAMENT LESSON:         Genesis 18: 1-15

PRAYER OF CONFESSION AND ASSURANCE OF PARDON:

Have mercy upon us, O God, according to your lovingkindness.

According to the multitudes of your tender mercies, blot out

our transgressions.  Wash us thoroughly from our iniquities, and

cleanse us from our sins.  For we acknowledge our transgressions, and our sins.  For we acknowledge our transgressions, and our sin

is ever before us.  Create in us clean hearts, O God, and renew a

right spirit within us, through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

A time of silent meditation

L:  The Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in

                    steadfast love.

P: May the almighty and merciful Lord grant us remission of all

sins, true repentance, and amendment of life, and the grace and consolation of the Holy Spirit.  Amen!
