PRAYER OF CONFESSION AND ASSURANCE OF PARDON:

God of grace, we your people offer to you our contrite hearts.

For we have often forgotten our spiritual worship and have failed to trust in the patience and compassion of your Son Jesus Christ.

Where we have rushed in only to damage and destroy, we ask

for our healing powers of restoration.  Where we have been

overzealous and careless, we long for the freshness of your grace.

Help us to recognize and seize your grace as you renew us that

we may be the body of Christ on this earth. And help us to answer your call, that we may serve you in all that we say and do.

Silence and Confession

L:   God is on our side, our help is in God’s name!

P:   Blessed be the Lord, who made heaven and earth!

L:   For his steadfast love endures forever

P:   And his mercy to each generation
